About
Aileen is a strategic leader, writer, and designer who lives and works in New York City.
Her diverse twenty(ish) year career spans marketing and advertising; development, strategy, creative, and account management; edtech, SaaS, insurance, beauty, and even architecture.
As a teen, Aileen taught herself to design and code purely for fun. It also turned out to be a fun way to earn pocket money, and at sixteen she began working on the website for a start-up in the edtech space. Since then, she hasn’t looked back.
Since then, Aileen has written copy and designed for Fortune 100 companies, lead tech teams through the development of countless websites, created voice skills, spoken at conferences and on panels, and built, managed, and mentored badass teams.
Currently, she’s the Director of Integrated Marketing and Communications at Encantos, an edtech startup diversifying and democratizing education for both kids and creators. Here, she leads collaboration across all marketing functions (paid media, member marketing, social, communications, creative) to develop integrated marketing strategies that drive growth.
Previously, she was VP of Creative in the Americas at Beamly, the in-house digital and social media advertising agency at COTY, Inc. In her day-to-day role at Beamly, Aileen led a team of content strategists, copywriters, designers and an art director who worked closely with both their media strategy and marketing science counterparts, using data to generate powerful creative campaigns for brands including: COVERGIRL, Sally Hansen, Rimmel, philosophy, calvin klein fragrances, and Peet’s Coffee. She also pitched and scoped new business, and developed and managed the P&L for her department.
As a strategist Aileen seeks to deepen the connections between data, media, and creative to drive efficiency and effectiveness. As a creative, Aileen believes strongly in developing content that works—rooted in audience insight, fueled by brand purpose, and designed to drive business success. Because nothing matters (not beauty, not style, not even incredible copy) if it doesn’t move the needle for clients.
In her spare time, Aileen is a fan of many things, including Hanson, Harry Styles, and Broadway. In its heyday, her theater blog, The Craptacular, drove over 35,000 page views a month. Today it maintains over 3,600 Twitter followers, and 600 Likes on Facebook. The Craptacular has been featured in the New York Times, Playbill, Backstage, Huffington Post and NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour. Aileen and her co-founder Laura Motta have appeared on multiple podcasts and even spoke on a panel at the Public Theater.
She'd tell you all about the fanfic loves to read (and write!), but then, a lady must have some secrets...
